Keeping logs is a legal duty
Under Law No. 5651, every business that provides internet access — hotels, cafés, hospitals, schools, public institutions and companies alike — must keep access records and retain them for the prescribed period.
Keeping the records is not enough on its own: they must be time-stamped, provably unaltered and available to the authorities on request. Businesses that fail to comply can face administrative fines.
